This is simple and should be obvious, but I've actually heard of it happening (fortunately, not where I worked!).

If you decide to P2V an existing server to a virtual machine, when the process is complete, you should unplug - not just turn off - the original physical machine. Why? An acquaintance worked in a place that suddenly began to have all kinds of weird domain controller issues. They found that someone had turned back on a domain controller that had been P2V'd weeks before. It took them a while to clean up the ensuing mess since there were now two domain controllers out there.

So, watch out! Unplug old systems to avoid confusion and delay!
