It is theoretically possible to deploy DPM into a virtual machine. I've done just that in my test lab. You do face some additional challenges when you do so, however. First, DPM needs a ton of disk space, so you need to make sure you expose enough disk space to your DPM virtual machine to meet its needs. Second, you need to have the Hyper-V role installed on a DPM server if you plan to protect Hyper-V virtual machines. You ARE able to activate the Hyper-V role on a virtual machine, but you can't run VMs inside it. That said, it will get DPM to a point where you can protect VMs on Hyper-V servers.
i got your point then pls suggest is it recommanded to installed DPM on HyperV Host ? as i have read somewhere as we can not installed DPM on hyperV node as it has cluster service.
compare to both situation which one i have to deside which is more secure than other ..
I have heard from one of my friend that DPM is better for backup and recovery and it would take usually 1 hr to complete the backup of like 50 GB of data and it is far more compatible than the earlier version.
DPM is actually a fantastic backup product. I've used it in an enterprise scenario and have been extremely satisfied. It's continuous data protection feature is excellent and, for most use cases, recovery is not too bad. The one exception is Exchange. There are way too many steps to recovery Exchange information.
