How many processors can I assign to a virtual guest in Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 R2. Using a quad processor box with 6 cores each I have a total of 24 cores. Can I assign 16 cores to one VM?

The maximum number of virtual processors that you can assign to a Hyper-V-R2-based virtual machine is 4, so of those 24 core, you'll have 20 left for other purposes is 20.

Happy to be of service! Welcome to the forums.

Tell us a little bit about your virtualization environment?
