We recently converted an old server to an ESXi 3.5 server (it's dual processor but 32 bit). I want to install an OS but all of our CD's are ISO files on a Windows network share. How can I mount that in ESXi to be used by VM's created on this machine?

In Citrix XenServer there's a GUI for this that works quite well but I cannot figure out how to do this in ESXi. I did find directions on using the MOUNT command but that's not giving me a successful connection. I get the error "No Such Device".

I can PING the DC2 server that this is stored on. I can navigate to \\DC2\ISOStore in Windows just fine.

I tried the following command:
mount -t smbfs //dc2.mydom.local/isostore /mnt/CIFS/DC2 -o username=ADomainUser/mydom

Now i'm no linux guy (i'm Windows) so i'm not sure if i'm typing the command wrong of if I have switches set wrong or i'm just using the wrong commands.

Is there a better way to do this? Or is this not supported in ESXi?

Maybe you can enable iSCSI or NFS on that box?

Via 3er party software like StarWind you convert a simple server like yours to iSCSI target server.

I want to share the new thing about ESXI 3.5, the update here is not each and every one combination of Virtual Center and ESX server versions are supported and not all of these highlighted features are available unless we are using virtual center-2.5 update-4 with ESX Server 3.5 Update 4.
