VHD tool is a command-line tool, which provides an administrator with the ability to manage VHD files. Among its capabilities:

• Instant creation of large fixed-size VHDs
• Convert a RAW disk to a fixed-forat VHD file
• Extend an existing VHD file to a larger size
• Repair a broken Hyper-V snapshot chain. This happens when an administrator expands the size of the root VHD
