Hi all

I have inherited a HyperV setup without much documentation.
On the HyperV host (running Windows 2008 R2 with GUI), I have a puzzling error:
The guests (virtual machines) cannot access shares on the HyperV host.
The guests can PING the host, but when I try to access a share on the host it times out with error 64.
If I try to access the same share from another (physical) computer, there are no problems.

When I view the TCP/IP settings on the host, NETBIOS Over TCP/IP is set to ENABLED, but if I do an IPCONFIG -ALL it reports that NetBios over Tcpip is DISABLED.

My guess is that the former administrator has done something "clever" to disable Netbios, but I cannot figure out what it is.

Could there be some setting in the Local Security Policy, registry or other place that somehow ignores the checkmark in the TCP/IP properties?

Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you.

Cheers
Simon
