This post at the VMware blog site outlines some of the difficulties that organizations face when considering merging VDI with a BYOC concept. While, in theory, BYOC sounds really cool, the reality is that it's hard, as the author points out. He also discusses, as much as is allowed, future directions for VMware's View with regard to Windows and Mac-based clients.

If you're at all interested in VMware View and trying to mix local mode with any kind of BYOC concept, this is a really interesting must-read.
