All,

I've been using PlateSpin P2V to do some live conversions from physical servers to virtual ones. At the end of the process, we end up with DNS issues. I thought that by specifying that the virtual machine created with PlateSpin was to use a static IP address that we'd not have this problem.

In a nutshell: If we allow a VM to use DHCP during the transfer process, when the process is completed, the server's DNS entry is overwritten with an address served via DHCP. We've gotten to a point where we simply go to the DHCP server at the end of the process and delete the record, but why would this be happening when I've opted to use a static address for the VM?

Like I said, I have a fix, so this is more out of curiosity at this point.

Scott
