For those of you that manage any substantial VDI solution, including those based on Citrix XenDesktop, you are aware of the phenomenon known as the boot storm. A boot storm occurs when many desktops attempt to boot all at once, potentially overwhelming the desktop storage device. This week, EMC unveiled a new storage solution based on their new VNX platform that helps Citrix VDI customers mitigate this issue.

Supporting up to 1000 desktops that can all boot in 8 minutes, this solution couples solid state drives with traditional storage in order to make sure that there are enough IOPS to go around.

For more information, refer to this press release.
