I want to move my vCenterserver to a different host. The current host that vcenter server is on we want to decommishion. We are going to add a new server to the existing cluster Example server315 is the one we want to get rid of and the new one we want to add to the exsiting cluster would be server318.. So i have server 316/317/318(new)
the vCenter server is a VM as well with sql 2005 on it So my question is -
1. how do I move an exsiting vCenter server (that is a VM to a new cluster host. Thanks.

Assuming your on Vshpere 4?
Right mouse click the VCenter VM and select "migrate", Select change host, select 316 or 317, etc then continue through the questions.

vMotion is to allow a VM to be moved from one host to another while it is still powered on.

vMotion, DRS and HA are some of the advantages of putting vCenter on a VM instead of a physical machine.

Bakmar,

Were you ever able to successfully migrate vCenter?
